This is a very loosely related sequel, five years after the young 'princesses' have managed to break the dancing spell. Tati is still separated from her sisters. Paula takes center stage on a trading trip to Istanbul where she runs into a culture even more restrictive than her native Transylvania. Cybele's Secret has everything: mystery, supernatural goings-on, treachery, search for a missing sibling, violence, trust and faithfulness, and finally, twu wuv. No, I'm kidding, it's not saccharine or yukky romantic at all. It just does happen to end with, you know, true love.
I like that this wasn't about a girl with the whole "my life is seems perfect but I want something else" complex. The story is original and well written. I had a hard time with the ending though, it was kinda a cliff hanger and also a little corny. Elizbeth Scott books aren't something I thought I would like but I totally do! A nice girly book is always a good standard read.
