Stephen King'in aslında iyi bir yazar olduğunu öğrendim.
This book was like Prep meets Pale Fire. Private school outsider narrative meets kind of intentionally ridiculous overabundance of citations, and you're never quite sure how much of what you're getting is misinformation. I found the first half slow-going; it picked up in the middle, and then the last fifty pages made my head spin. It kept tricking me about what kind of book it was, and I'm not quite sure how I feel about that. Its relationship to reality seemed uncertain and kept shifting. The similes tended to be pretty annoying, and a lot of the tertiary characters were so farcical (her parents' backstories, the weird nicknames for all her classmates) that I found it hard to take the others at all realistically. But I will say that when I was done I immediately flipped back to the front and started rereading the introduction with a totally different mindset.
Just finished watching the movie and it was really good, so I'll have to read the book..
One of my favorite books by Anita Shreve. Love that house!
