Again, needed a break from some heavier stuff I had read and nothing on my list was available at ECL so Owen found this one! Hadn't read Carl in awhile...entertaining but not my favorite of his...I did LOVE that the Governor was a big part of the storyline though...totally dig that character.
WOW!!! Really good book. Suspenseful and scary too. I never want to go hungry or kill someone after this book but its survival of the fittest here. A girl, Katniss, is forced to fight in the future North AMerican land with other boys/girls from different district. Theres lots of obstacles including hunger(hint name). Great plot...
At the urging of a friend I decided to give The Glass Castle a second chance and I'm so glad I did. I had read it when it first came out and can't imagine now why I didn't like it much the first time around--it just goes to show how much mood and timing can influence one's feelings about a book. I couldn't put it down and read it in one day, which was refreshing as it's been a bit since I've felt truly absorbed in a book. In light of my different feelings about The Glass Castle on first and second readings I'm going to set aside The Goldfinch for the time being as I just can't seem to get into it. Maybe at a later date I can come to it with fresh eyes.
Favorite book of my childhood!
I really enjoyed this book. I loved the small details that were precise and observant without being boring and trite. I loved the flawed characters and the incompleteness of the story. I look forward to reading more from Ms. French.
